About
About the course
Course content
Learning outcome
Knowledge and skills:
The candidate
- has the necessary knowledge of key structural materials (with a focus on concrete, wood, and metal), including composition, production, structure, and function, to assess how these affect the building's structure.
- has sufficient knowledge of important material properties to justify the choice of materials for various structures.
- has sufficient knowledge of the environmental impact of different materials and can relate it to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
- can apply theory to test materials in the lab and assess the advantages and disadvantages of material choices based on key properties and the environmental impact of different materials, linking them to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
General competence:
- The candidate can assess which material is suitable for the intended application.
- The candidate has insight into the environmental impacts of products and solutions within construction works.
