Course content

Perspectives on career and lifespan are central within the fields of adult learning and counselling. Eceryone encounters career choices, and the challenges that come with them will vary depending on what life stage the the person is in. What influences the individuals career related to life stages, will be a central question in this course. Emphasis will be on presenting and problematising a broad approach to career and lifespan. important perspectives for illustration of the connection between career and lifespan are narrative theories, the agency perspective, self-efficacy and learning challenges. The course will also focus on identity, development, context and culture, self-awareness, different roles and relations. Combined with emphasis on the students own experience, this forms a basis upon which illustration and development of knowledge of the connection between lifespan and career can be made.

Learning outcome

Through this course the student should acquire insight and knowledge about how career and lifespan interplay for the individual in relation to the context.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars.
Form of assessment: Term paper of 12-15 pages (A4, line spacing 1,5, Times New Roman 12 pt.)

Compulsory assignments

  • Participation on seminars.

Required previous knowledge

None.
Admission to the course is restricted. All students must register in STUDWEB within 1st June (autumn semester) and 1st December (spring semester) if they want to take a course with restricted admission. This procedure must also be followed by students admitted to a programme of study where the course is obligatory. Students admitted to the particular programme of study will be given priority.
