About the course

Course content

The practical training includes vocational pedagogical practice in upper secondary school, lower secondary school, and vocational practice in a company/enterprise.

The purpose of the course is to develop the student’s prerequisites for being able to provide education at grades 8-13. Learning outcomes require active participation, systematic guidance, planning, implementation, and assessment of one’s own practice.

Learning outcome

Knowledge The student has:

  • knowledge of curricula and professions within their own educational program and the nature of these professions
  • knowledge of observing, planning, implementing, assessing, and documenting education
  • knowledge of classroom management and inclusive learning environments based on the students’/apprentices’ learning prerequisites

Skills The student can:

  • plan, implement, assess, and document education in upper secondary education
  • analyze curricula and adapt education in accordance with current curricula and legislation
  • lead a learning community and facilitate good relationships and cooperation to promote equality, academic, and social learning and development

General Competence

The student can:

  • reflect on their own development in practice and relate this to professional practice as a teacher
  • describe and analyze professional practice as a basis for leading vocationally relevant education
  • reflect on professional and ethical challenges in daily learning activities

Learning methods and activities

The total number of practice days is 50 days. All practice is mandatory and must be supervised. Through vocational pedagogical practice, the student will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a minimum of 15 teaching hours. Vocational practice is documented through exercises.

Compulsory assignments

  • Completed professional interview 1 (autumn)
  • 20 days completed pedagogik internship in upper secondary school
  • 10 days completed pedagogik internship in lower secondary school
  • 20 days of completed professional practice in a company/business (spring)

Further on evaluation

Passing the course requires approved mandatory activities. Final assessment: Pass/Fail.

Vocational Teacher Education (BYRK)
