The Master of Science in Sport Sciences is a programme that emphasizes a research-related understanding and approach to sport scientific problems.


About Sport Sciences

The objective of the programme is to provide you with a scientific basis for working with problems related to sports and physical activities. The social scientific aspect of sports and physical activities gives a professional competence aimed at research, education, dissemination, planning and investigation work. The goal is to provide you with knowledge and experience to work with relevant scientific working methods and build up an understanding for research results interpretation.

The study is suited for those who are interested in social scientific aspects of sports and physical activities. The Master's degree programme provides a profound social scientific understanding of sports and physical activities. The programme gives you good knowledge of methodical working techniques within the discipline, as well as comprehensive training in sport science theory.


Programme structure

The Master of Science in Sport Sciences is a two-year long programme which consists of compulsory and elective courses and a thesis of either 30 or 45 ECTS. For further information about the courses, please consult the course descriptions.

Admission

If you meet the Norwegian language requirements, or have a related Scandinavian language as your mother tongue, you can apply to any of NTNU's degree programmes. You also must meet the basic requirement for admission, and demonstrate that you meet the English language requirements.

The application deadline for the programme is March 1st for students with an international degree, and April 15th for Norwegian and Nordic degree students. Students apply through NTNU søknadsweb.
