Development projects and Centres for Excellence in Higher Education (SFU)

Development projects

One of the measures in the NTNU Teaching Excellence initiative is a commitment to development projects, including projects in environments with the ambitions and quality required to achieve the status of a Centre of Excellence in Higher Education (SFU). The purpose is to develop innovative approaches to learning, teaching and assessment.

There have been several calls for proposals for development projects:

Completed projects

After the calls and applications, funding was granted for 7 development projects during the period 2013–2016 and for 21 projects during the period 2015–2016.

Ongoing projects

After the calls and applications in 2018, there is a portfolio of development projects in NTNU Teaching Excellence consisting of 9 development projects for the period 2018–2019 and 6 large development projects for the period 2018–2020.

Assessment of the scheme for development projects

A selection of development projects has been reviewed to assess the scheme for development projects, as well as how much such projects contribute to realizing NTNU’s main objectives. The findings of the review appear in the report «En gjennomgang av utvalgte prosjekter i NTNU Toppundervisning» (A review of selected projects in NTNU Teaching Excellence) from NTNU Samfunnsforskning AS (NTNU Social Research), March 2017.

Centres for Excellence in Higher Education

On 1 November 2016, the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) awarded these environments at NTNU the status of a Centre of Excellence in Higher Education (SFU):
