Course content
• laws and regulations • bracing and stability • joints • load calculation and dimensioning • digital tools for dimensioning and drawing • location, plot and ground conditions • ethics • element constructions in concrete and solid wood • digitization and modeling
Learning outcome
Knowledge The candidate: • understands the structure, bracing and stability of a building with regard to all loading directions • understands details of connections between different construction systems • can choose material type and construction system based on loads and environmental impact. • get an in-depth study of digitization and modeling of buildings using digital technology.• know current laws, rules and regulations that apply to the construction of buildings and to construction activities • has basic knowledge of technical drawing according to Norwegian standards and design of building structures using digital technology.
Skills The candidate can: • basic theories for strength analysis, load calculation, dimensioning and earthquake dimensioning according to the European standard work NS-EN. • take into account the environment, durability and use of resources when choosing a load-bearing system and materials, model, analyze and dimension complex building structures using computer tools and the European standard work NS-EN.• dimension construction systems, and be part of a design team in group work. • use digital tools when dimensioning and when preparing working drawings • draw and design simple detailed drawings of building constructions on a scale and prepare overview and principle drawings, by hand and with of 2D and 3D DAK.
General competence The candidate: • masters the subject terminology and can communicate with people in the field. • has a critical attitude to results from strength analyzes performed with computer tools. • can design construction systems in a holistic perspective. • gain an understanding of ethics and the environment in the construction industry. • gain innovative competence that contributes to the understanding of interdisciplinary digital solutions. • gain an understanding of ethics in the construction industry.
Learning methods and activities
• lectures and exercises in load calculation and in basic dimensioning. When using digital computer tools • exercises on complete digital models with regard to interdisciplinary understanding and innovative competence. • 5 compulsory written work requirements. A large group assignment delivered on paper.
