About
About the course
Course content
The course is adapted to the individual student's needs and his/her masters thesis. In the fall semester, the course will normally consist of two 3.75 ECTS theoretical modules offered in conjunction to the depth study courses in the technology programme.
List over theoretical modules: http://www.idi.ntnu.no/education/courses.php?&p=alle&v=tema
Student register their chosen modules via Studentweb.
If taken in the spring, the course is a self study constructed in dialogue with the supervisor for the master thesis. This is for students not able to do this in the autumn in parallel with the preparatory project.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of a theoretical subject, preferably relevant to the student's specialization project.
Skills: Ability to understand advanced research literature and apply it in project research and report writing.
General competence: Ability to reflect over the subject in relation to the student's master work and in a broader societal context.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, colloquia, presentations etc. depending on the actual content of the course. The autumn version of the course is organized as a combination of two elective modules with separate teaching. In the spring semester the course is based on self study. Students wanting to take the course in the spring are required to agree this with a supervisor and the department.
