Course content

Practical educational training is an integral part of the three-year vocational teacher education. Together with the vocational and professional subjects, the practical training shall provide the student with a basis for training on 8-13. grade. Practical training includes professional practice in business/enterprise and pedagogical practice in upper secondary school and junior high school.

Guided practice is included as a central part of the course. The purpose of the course is to develop the student's prerequisites in order to be able to provide training, guidance and instruction within his / her own field/education program. Learning outcomes require active participation, systematic guidance, planning, implementation and assessment of own practice. The course also emphasizes the use of own experience from practice and the development of competence in the professional and professional subjects.

  • has knowledge of classroom management and inclusive learning environment
  • has knowledge of pupils'/ apprentices' learning conditions and adapted training
  • has knowledge of observing, planning, conducting, assessing and documenting training
  • has knowledge of curricula and professions within their own educational program and the proficiency of the professions

Skills

The student

  • can plan, implement, assess and document training in school and business
  • based on the pupil's interests and learning needs, can facilitate customized training
  • can analyze curricula and adapt training according to current curricula and legislation
  • can use experience from practice and associate these with work requirements / tasks given in the professional field

General competence

The student

  • can reflect on their own development in practice and see this in the context of professional practice as a teacher
  • is able to describe and analyse professional practice in one's own profession as a basis for leading vocational training
  • is able to analyse and improve his or her own practice in accordance with the pupils'/ apprentices' assumptions, interests and needs

  • has the knowledge to plan, implement and assess differentiated and adapted training

Learning methods and activities

The total number of practice days is 45 days. All practice is compulsory and must be supervised. During the school placement, students must be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a minimum of 15 teaching hours.

• Defined work requirements (OBL1)

o Observation report school practice

o Reflection note school practice (upper secondary school)

o Guidance document school practice (upper secondary school.)

o Presentation from secondary school practice

o Reflection note professional practice

o Practice card, documentation of all practice

• Training in the internal life of the school, (OBL 2)

• 20 days completed school practice in upper secondary school (OBL 3)

• 15 days of practical experience in a company/company (OBL 4)

• 10 days of completed school practice in secondary school (OBL 5)

Compulsory activities are assessed as approved/not approved.

  • 10 days completed internship in lower secondary school

The number and type of defined work requirements may vary somewhat from academic year to another. Defined work requirements will vary from 2-4.
