What The IT Division Does
What The IT Division Does
The IT Division provides the IT services that enable NTNU to pursue excellent research, education and administration. In close collaboration with academic communities, we devlope and operate modern, secure and user-friendly solution, so that the university can harness technology to create calue and meet the challenges of the future.
Governance and Development
We govern and develop the IT function at NTNU in line with the university's strategy and needs. We assess new digital solutions and technologies, provide advice on the procurement and acquisition of IT systems, and manage services holistically form devolpment through operaton to eventual decomissioning.
IT Infrastructure
We plan, operate and manage the foundation on which all IT services are built: Data centres, servers, storage solutions and networks. We provide network access on and off campus, and ensure secure integration and data sharing between systems.
Information Security
We hold overall responsibility for information security at NTNU. We prevent, monitor and manage security incidents, maintain frameworks and tools for security governance, and build a strong security colture through training and exercises.
Digital Work Tools
We operate and manage the equiptment and software you use in your work: Computers and peripherals, software and licences, and collaboration services such as email, digital meeting rooms, storage and file sharing. We also provide user support for the services in the IT Devision delivers.
Research Support
We make research activities at NTNU possible through research infrastructure such as high-performance computing, research data services and specialised storage. We manage agreements and guidelines for research data, and provide researchers with IT guidance for their projects.
Education Support
We ensure that students and lecturers have access to stable and flexible services for a good digital learning environment. This includes technical support in teaching spaces, operation of audiovisual equipment, and IT support for digital assessment and examinations.

Our work spans a wide range - from strategic advice and devolopment to security, operations and user support - and we deliver it across three campuses.
