Main findings from the input

There is broad support for the sub-report's principles, premises and priorities for location of academic functions, including academic clusters and the proximity principle.

  • There is broad support for central localization of the HumSam cluster.
  • There is predominantly support for option C.
  • There is broad support for the localization of the KAM cluster (KAM + D) in the north, along Høyskolebakken.
  • There is agreement on preserving, strengthening and further developing the cooperation with external partners, as long as this does not happen at the expense of NTNU's professional activities.
  • Most of the external partners are positive to establishing an innovation center.
  • A majority of those who comment on student housing at Gløshaugen are sceptical - with different reasons. Sit and some students, however, support the establishment of student housing.
  • There are several suggestions that the main building should be used as a symbol building, and that it is less suitable for research and teaching.
  • There are concerns regarding the relocation and construction process, including the impact on existing experimental activities.

Decision in March

The Rektor will decide on location of academic functions at the end of March. The decision will provide guidelines on how NTNU will continue to work with campus development in the Gløshaugen area, as well as upgrading existing areas.

Specific placement of the various academic communities has not been investigated in detail. The decision will therefore be at an overall level, as a management tool for further prioritization and work on unifying campus in Trondheim.
