NTNU Community - Team Global Mobilities
Transregional and Interdisciplinary Research and Teaching on Mobility in its Multiple Forms
Team Global Mobilities is a rectorate-financed, interdisciplinary research team that brings together expertise on different regions of the world and across academic disciplines.
Our core mission is twofold:
- To connect people with an interest in specific world regions – fostering interaction and collaboration between scholars and practitioners from different backgrounds.
- To understand mobility in its broadest sense – not limited to migration or transport, but encompassing the movement of people, objects, knowledge, and ideas across time and space.
By linking area studies, multiple disciplines, and the theme of mobility, we create innovative research approaches that transcend traditional spatial and disciplinary boundaries.
Our work covers topics such as migration patterns, cultural exchange, knowledge transfer, international relations, policy learning, economic flows, and digital connectivity.
We provide a platform for interdisciplinary cooperation, where researchers address shared questions from cross-border and transcultural perspectives.
Our goal is to generate true interdisciplinary synergies – creating an integrated research space where projects on global dynamics, their reciprocal influences, and their constraints can be developed.
In the long term, we aim to establish a permanent competence centre that enriches NTNU’s teaching and serves as a national and international partner for both academic and non-academic collaboration.
