Katie Aurora Lineer is a PhD student at Insitute for Design. Her focus is on using more than words to express our experience is a driving force in her research. She combines her experiences with mental well-being, being an artist and designer into looking at how students might express their experiences through more than words. She will be using both visual metaphors and potentially multimodal metaphors to work with students in helping them to express their experiences with more than words. The theoretical framework of performative research gives Katie the opportunity to see research as a form of creation and encourages the use of images, movement, figural expression, etc., to both collect and produce data. The expressions will be the data that Katie collects, both about the students’ daily experiences, but also their interactions with the formal and informal mental health services at NTNU Trondheim.
