Basanta Raj Pokhrel
About
Basanta Raj Pokhrel is currently a Research Scientist at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and is associated with National Smart Grid Laboratory. He has a PhD in Energy Technology from Aalborg University, Denmark and a master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal / NTNU Norway.
He is active in research project formulation, execution, project management, and operation of the National Research Laboratory. His main research interests include power system operation and analysis, real time monitoring and control of the electricity grid, smart grids, WAMS / WAMPAC, and power system flexibility, with more than ten years of experience.
Work Experience:
2021 - Present: Research Scientist, Department of Electrical Power Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
2013 – 2021: Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kathmandu University.
2010 – 2013: Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kathmandu University.
2006 – 2008: Plant Engineer, Bottlers Nepal Limited (Coca-Cola Nepal).
