My Ph.D. dissertation investigates what drives people to support populist parties. By looking at people's personal values, attitudes, and emotional components, the thesis aims to find common factors that might explain this trend across different European countries. In my dissertation and the related articles I carry out quantitative analyses of survey data such as the European Social Survey and the European Values Study.
Currently my research is focused on investigating the links between populism and energy and sustainability transitions. I am particularly interested in exploring the dissonance between public concern over climate change and right-wing populist (RWP) parties' hostility towards climate policies, investigating the underlying social, psychological, and ideological drivers behind RWP supporters' resistance to climate action.
