Elin Angelo
Background and activities
Elin Angelo (PhD) is professor of music education at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on music and arts education, and research courses in philosophy of science and methodology. She is one of the founders and the elected chair of the Norwegian Network for Music and Art School Research, and lead from 2015-2017 the national project within this field, IRISforsk, with researchers from music education, teacher education, school leadership and school development. She leads from 2018 the research network Music Teacher Education in Development (MiU), is part of the research group in the international project Discourses of Academization and the Music Profession in Higher Music Education, the research group Music, Technology and Education (MusTed) and Arts Education in Cooperation (KiS). Her work has been published in Action, Criticism and Theory for Music Education, International Journal for Community Music, Nordic Research in Music Education Yearbook, The Nordic Journal of Cultural Policy, Acta Didactica Norge and in the Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education. She is part of the editorial team in European Journal of Philosophy in Arts Education and in Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education. Prior to her university teaching, Angelo taught in the music and art school, community music, kindergarten, compulsory school and upper secondary school, and has been employed as a professional saxopohonist in military bands, symphonic orchestra and in freelance projects. She holds degrees from the Norwegian Academy of Music, the Arctic University of Norway and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
