I graduated from the University of Bergen in 1990 and took my Ph.D (dr.med.) degree at NTNU in 2001. In early years my research focused on epileptic seizures and other neurological consequences of substance abuse. Later, my focus has changed towards Alzheimer's disease and ALS. I worked as a lecturer in Neurosurgery 1997-2001 and thereafter as lecturer and senior consultant in Neurology. From 2007 I am Head of the Dept. of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at St. Olavs Hospital /Trondheim University Hospital.
