Hans Arthur Solli-Sæther

About

Hans Solli-Sæther is a Professor of Strategy at the Department of International Business, Norwegian University of Science and Technology. As Head of the Department of International Business (2017-2023), he served as a member of several university-wide expert committees, the editorial board of the university newspaper, and the advisory board for research projects and other programmes. Since 2018, he has been a Guest Professor at ESDES Business School in Lyon, France, and from April to July 2024, he was engaged as a Visiting Professor for the HumanTech project at Politecnico di Milano.

Solli-Sæther has conducted research in the areas of multinational enterprises, mergers and acquisitions, global value chains, and management of information systems. His work has been published in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Global Strategy Journal, Multinational Business Review, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, and the International Journal of Technology Management. He has also carried out research related to innovation in the public sector; for example, the Semicolon project, which investigated interoperability in the public sector of Norway from 2007 to 2013.

Solli-Sæther has secured research grants, sponsored funds, and endowments from Norwegian companies such as Accenture, Kongsberg Maritime, Sparebanken Møre, the Research Council of Norway, the Regional Research Fund, and others.

He teaches international business strategy, international organisation and management, global sourcing and supply network management, and the digitalisation of value creation. In addition, he has taught in executive education programmes for the Norwegian industry and public sector.

Solli-Sæther holds a BSc in mathematics, statistics, and computer science from University of Oslo, an MSc in software engineering from University of Oslo, a Business Candidate degree from BI Norwegian Business School, and a PhD in organization and leadership from BI Norwegian Business School.

He has professional experience from industry as a software engineer, management consultant and executive leader, having served as Chief Information Officer at Norway Post.
