About

Jiaxin Pan is an associate professor (førsteamanuensis) at the Department of Mathematical Sciences. He bleongs to the Algebra Group. He obtained his PhD from Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany) and after that he was a postdoc at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany).

Research Interests

Pan is interested in (public-key) cryptography, in particular, cryptographic systems with mathematically sound proofs. More specifically, he is interested in:

  • Identity-based encryption schemes
  • (Non-interactive) zero-knowledge proof systems
  • (Structure-preserving) signature schemes
  • Tight security reductions
  • More general topics (in cryptography) that he is fascinated by

Most of his work are published at top-tier journals and conferences (such as Journal of Cryptology, Crypto, Eurocrypt, Asiacrypt, etc.). Please visit his DBLP for a more up-to-date list of his publications.

Research Projects

  • 2022 – 2026: NTNU Outstanding Academic Fellows Programme (Career development award)
  • 2021 – 2025: Principal investigator of a Young Research Talent project, Reserch Council of Norway, under the topic ground-breaking research (FRIPRO)
  • 2021 – 2023: Principal investigator (jointly with Sanjam Garg from UC Berkeley) of a Peder Sather Grant
