I am an historian and assistant professor at the Department of Teacher Education at NTNU.
I have completed my teacher training at NLA in Bergen, and have a master in history from the University of Bergen. I have, among other things, worked as an elementary teacher for eight years, before transferring to the university.
I have worked with Reformation history, and my master thesis, Med ordet som våpen. Husittane og ålmenta (Armed with words, the Hussites and the public sphere), seeks to answer how the public sphere served as a battle ground during Hussite wars in the 1420’s and 1430’s.
I have also been engaged in a project commemorating the teachers protest. Norwegian teachers opposition against Quislings government. The project has resulted in the podcast Lærarkrigen mot Quisling (The teachers war on Quisling). I have also participated in the podcast episode 1100 Norwegian teachers fought Hitler - and won.
My interests also span social science didactics and ways. I am especially interested in mediation of history and use of historic narrative.
From 2023 - 2025 I worked with the project Det er ikkje svaret som opplyser, men spørsmålet (It’s not the answer that enlightens, but the question). In this project, I used multiple-choice questions to enhance the amount of, and the quality, of students interaction with their curriculum. It was the students themselves who were to formulate questions to the curriculum, and we found that this helped most of them to read more and to read with intent.
I am also connected to the project InDeep, a project that researches deep learning in the Norwegian school system. In this project my focus is on the use of Re:searchers, characters made to help pupils to work systematically with chosen problems.
