Øystein Gullbrekken
About
I am a PhD candidate in the FACET research group at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NTNU. I study solid state electrolytes to enable next generation battery technologies. Specifically, I work with understanding how such materials conduct Li ions and how to increase the ionic conductivity and related transport properties.
I use molecular dynamics simulations to study ion transport in solid polymer electrolytes and liquid electrolytes.
In addition, I do wet synthesis and characterisation of a promising solid-state oxide-based electrolyte called LLZO (Li7La3Zr2O12) to understand the phase evolution and thermodynamics during synthesis.
Background:
Master in Industrial chemistry and biotechnology at NTNU, finished 2012.
2012-2014: Trainee at Elkem.
2014-2019: Process engineer at Elkem Bremanger.
2019-2020: Project engineer at Elkem Technology.
Started the PhD in May 2020.
