Background and activities

Risvan Dirza was born at 16.08.1987 in Binjai, Indonesia. He started his Bachelor study in Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) in 2006 and graduated Cum Laude in 2011. In 2009-2010, he was a visiting research student, conducting research on cooperative and coverage control as well as multi agents, in Fujita Laboratory, Department of Mechanical and Control Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT), Japan. After graduating, he started work for oil and gas companies (both onshore and offshore field). In total, he has seven years working experiences in energy industry.

Having several years working experiences in engineering, operations and projects management, he decided to pursue higher level of study and attended the Systems and Control (S&C) graduate program in Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His master thesis work was supervised by Dr Leyla Ozkan and Dr Alejandro Marquez-Ruiz and entitled “Real Time Integration of Max-Plus-Linear (MPL) Scheduling and Control”, which mainly investigate and proposes a new formulation of integrating scheduling that is modeled in MPL system and control layer. He graduated with Great Appreciations in 2018.


Prior to start his position as PhD Research Fellow in Dept. of Chemical Engineering, he was a guest researcher in SPROC, TU/e as well as engineer in an oil and gas company.


As PhD Research Fellow, he is currently working on Field-wide Production Optimization for Subsea Processing and Production System, part of SFI SUBPRO, utilizing machine learning based algorithms, under the supervision of Prof. Sigurd Skogestad and Dr Dinesh Krishnamoorthy.
