About
I am a Ph.D. candidate, teacher, and social studies didactics researcher at the Social Studies Section at the Department of Teacher Education (ILU).
I was employed as a Ph.D. candidate in April 2023, and my project is about democracy and citizenship education in preparatory education for adults (FOV). In my work, I examine what kind of democracy education the FOV social studies curriculum promotes, how the participants understand democracy, and how their experiences contribute to meaning-making in conversations about democracy. My scholarship is over four years, with 25% of my work dedicated to teaching-related tasks and practicum supervision. Among other things, I am the project manager for ILU’s externally funded continuing education course for bilingual teachers in social studies for adult immigrants.
I have a teaching degree and a master’s in social studies didactics from NTNU. I have previously worked as a Education coordinator at the Falstad Center and as a teacher at TROVO’s youth group, in addition to teaching one semester at the School for Shan Shan State Nationality Youth (SSSNY) Social Justice Education Programme. I have, among other things, experience with teaching, the role of contact teacher, professional collaboration internally and externally, R&D work, scientific publications, exhibition work (including being project manager for the exhibition "To the Youth" after July 22 and "Repressed Memories - A Burmese Journey in Time"), grant writing, and seminar and conference activities (including the international conference "Crossing Borders" in 2013). I have many years of experience in the volunteer sector and have, among other things, been project manager for dialogue and peace conferences for students in Norway, East Timor, and Rwanda. The roles as project manager have included financial responsibility and grant writing, responsibility for personnel and content. This year I am a permanent member of the Research Committee for the SU faculty, deputy member of the SU Employment Committee and the faculty board. Previously, I have been a permanent member of the ILU institute board, elected as a representative from the group of temporary academic staff for two terms.
