About

[Updated July 2023]

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Marine Technology, and I am involved in the process of writing my doctoral dissertation. My principal area of research is Arctic shipping safety. I have developed different risk models for Arctic shipping accidents, such as ship besetting in ice and icebreaker-ship collision. I have also analyzed the safe distance between an icebreaker and a ship in escort/convoy operations. The results of my work could be integrated with route planning to calculate emissions from maritime traffic and contribute to safer operations and the mitigation of the adverse effects of accidents. Arctic challenges are my great passion.

Professional background

  • PhD in the Department of Marine Technology, NTNU (including 1 year of teaching assistance), from March 2018
  • M.S. in Traffic Information Engineering and Control, Wuhan University of Technology, 09/2014-06/2017
  • B.S. in Navigation Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, 09/2009-06/2012
  • Freshman in Information and Computer Science, Wuhan University of Technology, 09/2008-06/2009

Work experience

  • Manager, China Merchants Group, 07/2017-12/2017
  • Risk Consultant, Wuhan University of Technology, 07/2013-12/2014

NTNU Oceans Pilot on Arctic marine environment- project addressing Risk, Reliability and Ice data in the Arctic marine environment

[Arctic Transport] I try to gain a better understanding of what is happening with ice thickness along the Norther Sea Route as well as to addresses challenges of risk modeling for strategic and tactical planning of Arctic transportation.
