About Cancer Prevention

Cancer is one of the biggest global health challenges, responsible for one in six deaths worldwide. In Norway, more than 30,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year. Over half of all cancer cases could be prevented by addressing risk factors such as smoking, alcohol use, being overweight, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and poor sun protection. Social inequality and environmental factors like air pollution also play a major role.

Team Cancer Prevention brings together experts from many fields, including psychology, oncology, general medicine, digital health, biology, psychiatry, nutrition, engineering, epidemiology, behavioral economics, and public health. We work closely with partners in Norway and abroad – such as Trondheim Municipality, SINTEF, the University of Oslo, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Utah, USA.

Our goal is to build a strong, active hub for research, education, and innovation in cancer prevention. We focus on improving quality of life and well-being for people both with and without a cancer diagnosis. Through cutting-edge research and real-world collaboration, we aim to develop effective prevention strategies. By working together with patients, the public, and important partners like the Norwegian Cancer Society and municipalities, we want to create solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.
