About Team Plastic

We – like most species – eat, drink, and breathe plastic.

What happens when the plastic we use every day ends up in our bodies, in nature, and in the food we eat? In Team Plastic we explore the link between our use of plastic as a material, and health – and what we can do to address the challenge.

Plastic is a versatile material and an essential part of modern life. But plastic particles and chemicals leak into the environment and affect both health and ecosystems. What is the true cost of our plastic use?

The research of Team Plastic looks at how plastic pollution impacts people, animals, plants, and the environment. We apply the One Health approach when looking at the connections between nature and society. We need to understand better how plastic enters our bodies and the natural world, and how materials science, recycling, and new materials can help reduce health risks from plastic materials. We hope to guide our use of plastic and influence policy to better manage its use and management. We collaborate with industry, government, and other stakeholders to reduce plastic as a global health issue.

We are interested in expanding our research network, towards stakeholders and research actors. Please reach out if you're interested in collaborations.
