Research Group for Experimental Philosophy of Language (EXLANG)

The Research Group for Experimental Philosophy of Language is concerned with experimental work to shed light on issues traditionally thought of as falling under philosophy of language. The group’s main focus is on theories of reference. Our work is both theoretical and empirical. Our theoretical work concerns the theoretical foundations necessary for the empirical work in our area. Our empirical work concerns carrying out experimental studies to investigate semantic reference. In our empirical work, we use a range of different methods, such as ERP studies, elicited production, as well as more classic survey studies. Our work is carried out in collaboration with philosophers, linguists, and psychologists.
