Welcome Solveig!
Solveig Berg Larsen has just joined our Mineral Processing team as an autumn student. Solveig will be working together with Ezgi in the RareGreen project (co-funded by Rare Earths Norway AS and EIT RawMaterials), on development of sustainable processing method for REE extraction from the Fen deposit, potentially one of the largest REE deposits of carbonatite type in Europe.
Solveig has just started her 4th year MSc at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She says she has chosen the profile mineral production and the RareGreen project is highly relevant for her. In her free time she either works on renovating apartment or plays volleyball. She has also the part-time job as a personal assistant, which is a meaningful and important job she enjoys.
Welcome Solveig!

New paper!
Critical raw materials (CRM), and particularly rare earths (REE) have a very high supply risk in EU green deal. Securing domestic production, together with a supply of REE within EU is of paramount need. The Fen carbonatite complex (Rare Earths Norway AS), located in Telemark in Norway, is one of the largest known REE deposits in Europe, and has a great potential as a viable CRM source in EU.
In our recently published paper in Minerals Engineering journal, on Early-stage application of process mineralogy methodologies for mineral tracking in flotation of rare earth elements (REE)-bearing minerals from a deposit in Norway, we investigate, for the first time, the beneficiation potential of the Fen complex, and we apply the processmineralogy to understand, in a sound manner, the performance variations during processing of REE ore.
The results show that rather flexible process can be achieved for the material from the Fen deposit. The next step is development of sustainable process, and our team will give a talk at Flotation23 in Cape Town (Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 12:30) on Mineralogical study of rare earth elements bearing minerals to develop a selective flotation process for the Fen deposit.
This is a part of the RareGreen project - sustainable processing methods for REE, co-funded by EIT RawMaterials and Rare Earths Norway AS.
Welcome Beril!
Beril Güner has joined our team, and will be working as a researcher in two EU funded projects Harare (Hydrogen based metal recovery from waste) and RareGreen (Sustainable processing methods for rare earth elements).
Beril completed her bachelor's degree in mining engineering at the Middle East Technical University in 2016. Prior joining our team she worked as an R&D metallurgist at Koza Gold Cooperation's metallurgical laboratory. Her main responsibilities during her employment were resource projects and process quality control of existing gold processing plants. She received her Master of Science degree from Hacettepe University in 2022. Beril's MSc research focused on the effects of ultrafine grinding on cyanide leaching of gold tailings.
Welcome Beril!

Welcome Patrcyja!
Patrycja Bednarek has just joined our Mineral Processing team to undertake her PhD, under Pshem's supervision, on development of smart collectors for mineral and metal extraction.
Patrycja obtained a master's degree in mining and geology from the Wroclaw University of Technology in 2016. After her studies she worked at the Polkowice-Sieroszowice Mine as a mining engineer in the Mining Technology Department. In this role, she was responsible for designing future mine excavations and mining jobs using CAD software, such as MicroStation by Bentley. She also played a key role in preparing and coordinating the mine's operation plan and long-term production plans.
Patrycja has a notable athletic background. She was a former amateur boxer in the Polish Women's National Team and achieved national and international success in the sport.
Welcome Patrycja!

Newly upgraded pilot flotation unit!
Our team (Camilo, Kornel and Ezgi) is testing the newly upgraed pilot flotation unit. This is a part of our activities on development of sustainable process for extraction of rare earths from the complex Fen deposit, one of the biggest REE deposit in Europe, the RareGreen project (Sustainable processing methods for rare earth elements) co-funded by EIT RawMaterials and Rare Earths Norway AS.
