NoW3 is an online learning resource at level 3, is being developed by university lecturers in Norwegian for foreigners at the Department of Language and Literature.

NoW3 builds on the online courses NoW1 and NoW2. NoW3 is intended for use at level 3 in Norwegian courses at universities, especially NTNU, but it can also be used in other Norwegian courses as well as for self-study.

Fully digital resource

NTNU’s language policy guidelines state that Norwegian is the primary language at NTNU, and that international employees must reach level B2 within three years. A fully digital learning resource will help increase flexibility for international students and staff.

The learning resource will cover a wide range of topics related to Norwegian culture and society, such as geography, family, language, working life, education, environment, history, politics, and health.

Large selection of excersises

NoW3 will place particular emphasis on showcasing the broad spectrum of research conducted at NTNU, thereby providing students with a solid basis for communicating about their own research - and for understanding and participating in research-based public debate.

NoW3 will consist of texts written specifically for the course, authentic texts from the media, fiction, and videos. It will also include a large selection of exercises.

In NoW3, Norwegian grammar will be presented systematically through a combination of repetition and the introduction of new, more advanced structures. The course will also focus on text cohesion, study techniques, writing style, and source criticism.

We also plan a combination of theory and practical exercises on Norwegian pronunciation.
NoW3 is being developed as an R&D-project (FoU) and has received funding from ISL’s strategic resources.
