RP-2.3 Provision of energy security and adequacy from hydropower
Provision of energy security and adequacy from hydropower
Provision of energy security and adequacy from hydropower
Project RP-2.3 aims to provide more insight into the importance and potential of hydropower to contribute to energy security and adequacy. The topic will be elucidated both from a market perspective and from a more technical operational point of view.
We will investigate how energy security contributions from hydropower can be quantified and optimized.
On the power system level, energy security constraints will be formulated and validated through simulations. Furthermore, the capability to operate reservoirs in a more robust yet efficient way in the local production scheduling will be addressed.
On the market level, we will investigate how different designs and framework conditions can maximize social welfare by incentivizing the supply of security and adequacy.
The project will lead to new methods and conditions that can be used in models for the power system, the energy market, and the local hydro scheduling.
