Course content
The bachelor's thesis is an independent work in comparative literature. The student should develop ability to carry out a personal research work on a large scale. Students will gain insight into information processing and evaluation of research and methods within a relevant subject.
Learning outcome
Candidates who have passed this course
- are able to articulate and delimit a scientific research question;
- are able to analyse and organise collected information, including existing research on their chosen topic, and present it in writing;
- are able to apply the scientific terminology and methods required in a piece of academic work.

Supervision, following on from student's work.
Obligatory assignment:
Approved topic for bachelors thesis and project outline (1 page). Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).

Further on evaluation
The Bachelor's thesis should consist of approximately 25 to 30 pages (Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1,5) excluding references and appendices.
Students who receive a failing grade and wish to retake the course must submit a new thesis on a new topic.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature (BNORDLIT)
Recommended previous knowledge
Completed all courses at basic level in the bachelor's programme in Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature, or equivalent approved education.
Students should have completed 15 ECTS at advanced undergraduate level (2000-level).
Required previous knowledge
Requires admission to the bachelor's programme in Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature in the autumn semester of 2014 or more recently.
