About the course

Course content

The bachelor's thesis is an experimental or theoretical project for incoming exchange students who have agreed a project with a supervisor at the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science. The project will usually be related to ongoing internally or externally funded research projects at the department, but it can also be carried out in collaboration with other research institutions and industry. Emphasis is placed on the student learning to work systematically within the relevant topic, as well as acquiring detailed knowledge through literature studies and practical work. The student is required to give an oral presentation of the project at the end of the semester.

  • The candidate can use the knowledge and skills acquired during the study to delve into the topic of the thesis.
  • The candidate can use scientific databases for literature searches and obtain other relevant information.

Learning methods and activities

All exchange students who are going to complete a bachelor's thesis must enter into an agreement with their supervisor and the department. The bachelor's thesis is carried out as an independent project under supervision, and the project is planned in consultation with the supervisor.

Required previous knowledge

Admission as an incoming exchange student at the Faculty of Natural Science, and approved project agreement with a supervisor at the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science. Registration for the course is done by the department after the project agreement is approved.
