Learning outcome
- Know the history and importance of geomatics in the construction industry
- Explain how different coordinate systems are structured
- Carry out transformations between coordinate systems
- Carry out height measurements with spirit level binoculars
- Perform simple GNSS measurements with RTK
- Perform manual calculations of coordinates and heights as well as accuracy calculations
- Explain how geographic information systems (GIS) are used to solve practical problems
- Be able to explain basic data structures for geographical information
- Be able to give an account of the content and organization of the Norwegian infrastructure for geographic information (Norge Digitalt-sambarbeitet and Geovekst).
- Know the content and areas of use for the most important Norwegian datasets.
- Know the most important formats for geographic datasets.
- Be able to present geographical data based on basic principles of cartography.

The course has mandatory work requirements that require attendance at the Gjøvik campus. Students in online study programs must count on a physical daily meeting at Gjøvik.
