Course content
The master's thesis is a delimited scientific investigation carried out in an independent manner under supervision. The methodological approach is normally historical. The topic must lie within or be relevant to the broad thematic area of war and society. The thesis should normally have a length of 15,000-22,000 words (excluding bibliography and appendices). The master’s thesis may be written individually or together by two students. If the thesis is written jointly, an application must be submitted to the department for approval, and it must have a scope equivalent to two individual theses.

If the thesis is written jointly, the master’s thesis is submitted as a single written work. The oral examination is conducted individually and may adjust the final grade on an individual basis.
If you fail the master's thesis, you can apply to the department to resubmit the master's thesis once. In order to resubmit the master's thesis, the thesis must be completely new or so reworked that it can be considered a new thesis.
