Learning methods and activities
The work requirement consists of three submissions based on a text in Latin that is relevant to the master's thesis. Each submission entails the student using a dictionary to find at least two meanings of twenty words in an excerpt from the relevant original text, writing them down, comparing them with the choices in a given translation of the Latin text, reflecting on which meanings have been lost and briefly discussing how other choices of words could affect the understanding of the source text. The first submission deals with words belonging to the nominal system (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, etc.), the second on words from the present tense system (verbs) and the third on the perfect tense system (verbs).
