Course content

The Master Thesis is usually done in one of the research fields of the
department. As a rule, the work is done during the 5th year of study, normally in the 10th semester. Students should plan the choice of the courses as early as possible in order to take courses that are both relevant for the field of specialization and give a certain breadth. The thesis can be diciplin oriented or oriented towards didactics. The relvance for the profession must be described.

Learning outcome

Work on the Thesis is the core of the Master program. The Master Thesis should be an independent scientific work (that could be in the form of a survey) where the student shows understanding of the current research and/or relevant theories and methods that are important with respect to the topic of the Thesis.

Learning methods and activities

The Master Thesis is an independent study of current scientific articles and books, and is an independent scientific work under the supervision of a faculty member. Investigations and analyses can also be included. Results obtained when working on the thesis could also be presented in a seminar. Before the thesis is censored, the candidate must give an oral presentation.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Natural Science with Teacher Education (MLREAL)

Required previous knowledge

The thesis work presupposes that the candidate has taken relevant courses,
supporting the special area for the thesis. The first four years of the
teacher program must have been completed.
