Course - Advanced Algebraic Topology - MA8406
MA8406 - Advanced Algebraic Topology
About
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2022/2023
Course content
The goal with the course is to give a solid background for studies in topology, and develop geometrical ideas and algebraic methods. The course supports studies in related subjects in algebra and geometry. Topics that can be discussed include products and power operations, K-theory, bordism theory, and many others.
Learning outcome
1. Knowledge. The student has knowledge of advanced topics in algebraic topology. 2. Skills. The student is able to apply his or her knowledge of algebraic topology to formulate and solve problems of a geometric-topological nature.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. The course is given every other year, assuming enough students sign up for the course. Next time is Fall 2023. If not enough students register for the course, it will be given as a reading course.
Further on evaluation
There will be an oral exam.
