About the course
Course content
The course aims to develop professional digital competence in music education and provide a comprehensive introduction to the field of music, technology and education. The main components include the use of hardware and software to produce, compose, and perform music, critical assessment of the affordances and constraints of technology in diferent educational contexts, and the development of educational designs where technology and digital tools are embedded. The course emphasizes exploratory approaches and co-created learning, where educational and music pedagogical competence is developed at the intersection of theory and practice.

- independently plan, carry out, evaluate, analyze, and critically relate to teaching with music technology

- further develop their professional digital competence and stay updated with a high degree of independence throughout their career
- collaborate on innovation processes with peers, pupils, colleagues, and legal guardians to maintain the music subject´s relevance in line with technological developments

All compulsory assignments must be approved in order to be qualified for the exam. Coursework related to compulsory assignments requires 80% approved attendance. In cases of excessive absence, compensatory work may be assigned.
The students can be assessed, required to take part in coursework and required to attend teaching related to interdisciplinary topics
Assessment (exam):
The student will create a teaching design where music technology is used to teach a group of fellow students or other pupils. After the teaching session, a reflection conversation will be conducted, based on the teaching design and linking it to theory.
The exam lasts up to 60 minutes and is graded with letter grades A-F.
Specific conditions
Admission to a programme of study is required:
Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Years 1-7 (MGLU1-7) - some programmes
Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Years 5-10 (MGLU5-10) - some programmes
Required previous knowledge
Candidate must have successfully passed Music 1 and completed Music 2 to begin Cycle 2 courses. Passing is understood as the student completing the course and passing the examination. Completed is understood as having all obligatory coursework approved and qualifying the student for the course examination.
