Topics in Industrial Design Research
About
About the course
Course content
The course requires the student to understand and put his/her own research activities in the context of previous design research inside and outside the department, related both to content as well as research methodology. The student is required to interpret and assess different approaches to design research in the context of his/her own research objectives.
Learning outcome
The course objective is to strengthen the students knowledge of design research relevant to his/her PhD research. Focus is on scoping research areas, defining research questions, identification and using relevant literature and networking in design research communities.
Learning methods and activities
Depending on the number of participants and the chosen subject, the course may require self study of relevant theory; discussion/seminar with supervisor or other relevant staff/students during the writing process, and a final presentation. Given the low number of students expected to participate, the organisation of the course is very flexible and individually oriented, and will be discussed at the start of the project.
