About the course

Course content

Through the subject Knowledge in practice 3, the students will gain practical experience from working life in their third semester of study. Relevant internships can be anything that is considered a relevant workplace for a person with a master's in psychology (research institutes, schools, municipalities, company, public sector, voluntary organizations, NGOs, etc.).

Recommended in-depth topics for the practice will be societal challenges in the areas of community-, health-, and environmental psychology. Other topics from Knowledge in practice 1 and 2 can also be explored further in Knowledge in practice 3.

The praxis period is 200 hours and the students agree themselves how many days of the week are spent at the internship site during the internship. This may vary from practice to practice. Often, the internship will consist of delivering a piece of work to the internship location, such as an investigation report or other professional development work. At other times, practice may consist of participating in practical tasks at the place of practice. The students can have an internship alone, but it is recommended to have several students where the internship site allows it and this will be the main rule as far as possible. The students themselves can obtain an internship that the subject coordinator approves. Subject teachers from the study can also help students find suitable places.

Placement and assignments must be approved by a subject teacher at the institute.

The students will be asked to attend a start-up meeting where information is given about the arrangements for the internship period and possible tasks and internships. The students will also be asked to participate in an experience exchange seminar during the semester where experiences from the practice will be discussed. After the practice, the students will present the content of their practice report to the subject teacher and fellow students.
