Course content
Analysis of contingency tables for independent and for paired data. Repeated measurements. Analysis with missing values. Diagnostic tests. Clinical trials and observational studies. Risk difference, relative risk, and odds ratio. Confounding. Logistic regression. Survival analysis, the Kaplan-Meier and Nelson-Aalen estimators. Meta-analysis.
Learning outcome
The course gives an introduction to statistical models and methods for medical investigations.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and compulsory exercises. The lectures may be given in English. Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade awarded in the course. This portfolio comprises a final written examination 80% and the compulsory exercises 20%. If very few students are to take the exam, the exam may be given as an oral examination. Retake of examination may be given as an oral examination.

ST0101 Probability with applications (see catalogue 2008/09) and ST0201 Statistics with applications (see catalogue 2008/09), or ST0103 Statistics with applications and ST2202 Applied statistics, or corresponding background.
