About the course

Course content

This course gives an introduction to Project Management and Construction Engineering. Topics covered are: framework conditions for Building and Construction Projects, Organization of planning, design and production(parties, roles, responsibilities, contract strategies). Economy in the planning process (budget, profitability analysis, specification texts, tendering). Building process (phases and subprocesses, including public processes). HES and Environmental Control.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of organizational and economical issues within a building process, external conditions, tools and responsibility in the process and the importance of HES in the building process.

Skills:
The candidate can use tools for budgetting, tendering, methods for analyzing profitability of building projects and different HES-indicators.

General competence:
The candidate can understand how a building process develop from requirements to an actual building and understand the terms used in the building process.

Further on evaluation

Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (60%) and evaluation of work done in groups (40%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. For a re-take of an examination, all assessments during the course must be re-taken
