About the course

Course content

Advanced topics and methods within geomatics are discussed and applied. The course content will be partially adapted to current issues and ongoing research within the Geomatics Group at NTNU. In this course, students will apply their knowledge of data and information technology to specific themes related to geomatics.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

The candidate has knowledge of how problems within geomatics can be solved through the application of computer science.

Skills

The candidate is able to

  • Develop a computer application that effectively solves a problem within geomatics.
  • Systematize and design a geomatics-related application based on methods learned in computer science.
  • Test and ensure the quality of the developed application.
  • Produce clear and well-structured documentation for the application.

General competence

The candidate is capable of combining knowledge from computer science with knowledge from a user-oriented field.

Learning methods and activities

The course is conducted as a self-study, where a programming assignment constitutes the main part of the course activities. Instruction and activities are provided in English when students who do not understand Norwegian are enrolled.

Further on evaluation

In case of repetition, all assessments in the course must be taken again.

Required previous knowledge

Knowledge within Geomatics and Computer science corresponding to the 3 first years at Master`s Degree Programme in Engineering and ICT, specialization in Geomatics.
