Course content

Academic content must provide a basis for being able to start, run and close a business through:

1. Creative processes for business idea development.

2. Team collaboration, strategy and management.

3. Registration and establishment.

4. Product and concept development of the business.

5. General meeting - formal processes, closing of the company.

6. Report and basis for establishing new business activities.

Learning outcome

You must acquire knowledge about:

  • Business establishment Creative processes for business idea development.
  • Team development, collaboration strategy and planning.
  • Management of enterprises
  • Product and concept development of business.
  • Practical and effective dissemination of knowledge with pitch presentations.
  • Closing of the company
  • Reporting of business activities. Knowledge of the student business program at Young Entrepreneurship. You must be able to start a company, lead, run product development and close the company. Through the process, you will develop expertise in enterprise collaboration.

Learning methods and activities

The start a business course is given as guided self-study with practical training through the pedagogical method "Student business" Student enterprise (SB) is an active learning method that requires the student to independently start and run a business in line with the student enterprise program at Ungt Entreprenørskap. There are 3 mandatory work requirements with pitch presentation:

  1. Start (Business idea- team and company establishment).
  2. Drive (Operationalization and development of enterprises)
  3. Exit. (general meeting and liquidation of a SB enterprise (a student enterprise).

Student enterprise (SB) is an active learning method that requires the student to independently start and run a business in line with the student enterprise program at Ungt Entreprenørskap. The implementation has a degree of flexibility and can be completed online in its entirety. Through the student business program at Young Entrepreneurship, the student must acquire knowledge of the SB method, budget and accounting.

Pitch (General meeting - formal processes, closing of the enterprise).

Report and basis for establishing new business activities.

Through presentations (pitch), the student's dissemination of knowledge is promoted. Here, SB is a realistic simulation of knowledge-based business establishment and liquidation in line with the student business program at Ungt Entreprenørskap.

The learning platform is arranged for group work.

Recommendations are given to participate in workshops and idea competitions.

Further on evaluation

Assessment: Aggregate score Off campus exam (80/100) and Oral (20/100)

Off campus exam: 4 hours, counts 80%.

Oral exam: 25 minutes, counts 20%.

For both applies:

Aids: All printed and handwritten aids allowed. All calculators allowed.

Digital exam system & sensor system: Inspera assessment

Grade rule: A-F. Strike grades cannot be included in the overall result.

Content off campus exam:

  1. Knowledge tests with automatic correction.
  2. Prepared report with documentation of Sustainable modeling and idea development of business model.
    • Operationalization of an innovation and a non-profit company.
    • Product and concept development. Strategy, management, business administration and administration.
    • Formal processes, operationalization of business liquidation and basis for establishing new business operations.
    • References, log own contributions and reflection
  • Presentation of report with oral hearing. (carried out after submission normally the following working day and no later than within 5 days before submission. (details are agreed in advance).
  • The students are assessed individually after a comprehensive assessment of the work.

    All parts must be passed.

    Failure means that the entire course must be taken again.

    Required previous knowledge

    Passed a minimum of 30 credits at university.

    Course materials

    Literature is essentially digital, open online resources that are provided at the start of the semester.

    Ungt Entreprenørskap Innlandet works together with NTNU Gjøvik so that more students in Innlandet will have the opportunity to run a student business as a method.

    The course is offered in collaboration with Start Gjøvik https://startgjovik.no.

    Studentbedrift, a non-profit organization established by the public Norwegian government for training purposes. To gain access to this form of enterprise, one must be busy and registered as a student. The registration must be covered by the students themselves (the cost is NOK 500 per company), it is not necessary to buy textbooks as young entrepreneurship (UE) offers digital teaching aids that supplement digital free teaching aids from NTNU. The registration fee can be seen as an outlay instead of buying textbooks). All student companies that are registered and approved in the Brønnøysund register and by Young Entrepreneurship in the academic year can compete for a place at the NM for student companies.
