About

About the course

Course content

The specialization project will be related to sustainable energy systems of importance for the Norwegian process and onshore industry. The topics of the specialization projects are connect to our research projects with activities of importance for the process industry (energy utilization, process integration), power production (water power, thermal power).

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The project provides the student with knowledge within Power production systems - Energy storage (electric, thermal storage hot and cold).

Skills: The project should enable the student to: - Analyses, design and operation of processes, energy systems and components - Developing and implementation of new technology in energy processes - Ability to go deep in theoretic and/or practice within a specific topic by use of scientific methods, own experiments or develop models for detailed analyses - Ability to perform larger independent projects inclusive project plans with milestones, reporting results and write a scientific report according standards.

General competence: The project should give the student: - After fulfilled topics, the student will have a detailed knowledge about the selected energy process. The student will be able to use this competence in projects where these topics are integrated as components or technology elements.

Learning methods and activities

The specialization project is an independent work performed by the student under guidance of the supervisor. The guidance and advice are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.

Further on evaluation

The project will be individually evaluated. The criterias for evaluation can be hand out from the supervisor.
