Course content
Project assignments will give students practical experience in the field of user-centered development of products.
Lectures will present methods that can be used in the project, and the ideas behind the methodology.
Main topics are: User centered design of interactive systems, user analysis, persona and scenarios, task analysis, contextual studies of the use, ethnographic methods, and participatory design using for instance, sketches, model building and role play.
Design for experience will be introduced.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
Understanding of user centered design
Methods for the analysis of users
Methods for task analysis
Methods for analysis of the use context, including ethnographic analysis
User Involvement in Design
Design for User Experience.
Skills: Master the methods of analysis of users, user activities and usage context. Be able to translate knowledge about the use of design of product, activity and experience.
General qualifications: The candidate should have practical experience with user-centered product design.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, project work and assignments, tutoring, construction of mockups and models. The project tasks include oral presentation of the results.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Industriell design (MTDESIG)
Recommended previous knowledge
TPD 4100 Design 1 - Introduction og TPD 4102 Design 2 - Composition. Limited to students in the Industrial Design studyprogram.
