About the course

Course content

The course is organized around a practical project with iterative design of a graphic user interface. The work includes fast prototyping and usability testing techniques employing paper prototypes and software in the the departments usability lab. Lectures support the project with themes such as: ISO92141 user centered design, ethnographic methods in design, conceptual models, graphic design on screens, simulation and prototyping techniques, usability testing method, interface technologies and user centered design in a corporate perspective. The students will be given an introduction to Axure wireframing software, and are expected to be able to use image software in the Adobe package.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
The candidate will gain insight into the basic theories and current research topics in user-centered interaction design.

Skills:
Practical experience in iterative, user-centered design of graphical user interfaces, especially small screens and mobile ICT.

General qualifications:
The candidate should be able to carry out user-centered design, develop and implement a usability test.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and a transdiciplinary project. Iterative prototyping and testing in transdiciplinary groups of designstudents and computer science students resulting in a project report and a short presentation which is the basis for a group evaluation in the course. The report and final presentation must demonstrate an ability to apply the theoretical basis of the field.
Teaching and assignments in Norwegian only.

Further on evaluation

For a re-take of an examination, all assessments during the course must be re-taken.
