Course content
The course will present an introduction to design thinking, and will introduce the students to visual communication and design driven development work.
Design thinking is a people-oriented product development and innovation process for practical and creative solutions to problems or questions. As opposed to analytical thinking, design thinking is a process based on the building and nurturing of ideas. Even if design popularly is used to describe objects and final results designing is an efficient process. Design thinking is an approach which any company or profession can use to attain extraordinary results.
Learning outcome
Develop an understanding of design thinking. Train students' ability to visualize and communicate visually through a development process.
Learning methods and activities
The course will consist of lectures, guestlectures, discussions and project assignments.
Recommended previous knowledge
No specific knowledge, but three years study at university level. The course is non-technical, and may be chosen as a complementary topic during semester 7 or 9 for students outside of industrial design.
