About the course
Learning outcome
Knowledge
By completing the master’s thesis project, the candidate acquires in-depth knowledge within a selected topic in Sound and Vibration.
Skills
The project equips the candidate with the ability to carry out an individual specialization project, including applying appropriate work methodologies and presenting results effectively. The candidate develops skills in conducting an in-depth study of a specific topic using scientific methods. This includes performing literature reviews, integrating findings with existing knowledge, and applying critical thinking. The candidate also learns how to manage a larger independent project, including project planning, reporting progress at milestones, writing a comprehensive final report, and delivering an oral presentation.
General Competence
The candidate is able to structure and present the results of an independent research project in a written master’s thesis. Furthermore, the candidate can present the project orally and respond to related questions in a competent and reflective manner.
Learning methods and activities
The master’s thesis is an individual research project carried out under supervision. The work shall be documented in a written thesis and presented in a mandatory oral defense. The final assessment is based on both the submitted thesis and the oral presentation.
Further on evaluation
The report needs to include a reflection on the projects relevance to sustainability with basis in the UN's sustainable development goals.
The final grade is based on two components: the written thesis accounts for 75% of the grade, while the oral presentation and defense contribute 25%.
