Course content
The course consists of the following topics:
• Introduction to the wireless industrial communication
• Introduction to Industry 4.0
• Cyber physical system and Internet of things (IoT)
• Basic knowledge on communication systems and wireless channel• Introduction to different industrial communication systems: Wireless LAN, IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee), WirelessHART
• 5G with focus on industrial applications• Wireless security
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Knowledge on the different capabilities of wireless industrial communications for sustainability and strategy
- Understanding of the different industrial wireless communication systems
- Understanding of the characteristics of wireless industrial channel
- Knowledge on the concept of Industry 4.0, cyber physical system/Internet of things (IoT), 5G technologies, wireless security, etc.
Skills:
- Can understand the possibilities as well as challenges of deploying communication systems in industrial scenarios
- Can explain various ICT concepts introduced in this course
- Can carry out an independent and limited research on system design of industrial wireless communication systems
General competence:
- Understand the different wireless industrial automation capabilities
- Understand the difference of industrial environments from the perspective of wireless channel propagation
- Understand the different ICT technologies introduced in this course
- Can contribute to new thinking and innovation in the area of wireless industrial communication
- Can apply his/her knowledge and skills in new areas in order to carry out advanced assignments and projects within wireless industrial communication
