About the course
Course content
Building with wood in Norway with historical significance, design development and building. Planning with requirements for buildings, safety and quality. Indoor air quality, energy efficiency and environmental considerations. Foundations and constructions from scratch. Floor Separates with construction principles, dimensioning and execution. Walls with construction principles, dimensioning and execution.
Roof with Roof types, structures and roofing. Surface treatment and maintenance.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
The candidate has basic knowledge of the theoretical and practical foundations for house building technique on technical, environmental and operational qualities.
Candidate's knowledge of the development of wooden construction in Norway, the candidate understanding of the construction industry's various challenges in planning, technology, process, construction and maintenance.
The candidate should be able to explain the links between common building materials,
Structures and execution within the planning and construction to meet today's technical requirements and standards.
The candidate may find, update, use and refer to information and subject material.
Skills:
The candidate can identify, plan and carry out simple projects according to current technology and current standards.
The candidate may present byggemelding- and working drawings with necessary details as the basis for quantitative calculations.
The candidate may find, use and refer to information and subject material.
The candidate can contribute to sustainable development and good building through the provision of qualitative and socially beneficial products and solutions.
General competence:
The candidate has skills in the use of academic sources and scientific methods of planning and design of "Norwegian House"
The candidate can reflect on their professional practices, adapt this in own work and share their knowledge and experiences with others.
